Joseph James Cook

January 9, 1949 — April 15, 2025

With heavy hearts, the family of Joseph James Cook, announces the passing of their loved one on April 15, 2025. Joe passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After being baptized into Christ, he married his childhood sweetheart and raised their children in Phoenix, AZ. Joe retired as a concrete foreman after 30 years of building pools in the hot Arizona sun. He devoted his remaining years to his family and his beloved grandchildren. Relocating to Chesterfield, VA, he continued investing his love & knowledge while sharing his passion for target shooting, hunting, fishing, woodworking & traveling with his family. As he was always supportive and present, the Rock of our stability, he will truly be missed as an amazing Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, and Friend.

Preceded in death by: Parents: Roy Cook & Mary Rose Scrabano. Sisters: Ester Beverly, JoAnne & Rhonda Cook. Brother in Law: Bill Thomas, Son: Joseph Mangiaracina. Niece: Paula Davis. Survived by: Wife: Kathryn Sciortino-Cook, Children: Jamie (Christy), Anna (Terry Whitt), Nick (Lisa) Mangiaracina. Grandchildren: Zachary (Trinity), Kristen, Tyler (Caitlyn), Matthew, Landen, Nick (Riley), Kaylee, Austen, & Ashten. Siblings: Shirley Thomas, Carl (Joye) & Christine Cook. Brother in law: Stephen Beverly. Many Nieces and Nephews. Notable Family Friends: Herrera, Timberman, Rosales, Sciortino, Cone, Roman, Fountain, Hepburn & Curry. It was his request to give a special recognition to his son Jamie, his niece Stephanie Clack and honorary daughter Sophia Rosales for always dropping their lives to travel and help with his family, never missing an occasion, opening their homes time and time again, and being some of the most caring people he knew.

Celebration of Life at the River Church (Chester, VA) on Friday, May 9th, 2025, 11:30 a.m.
Family will receive friends immediately after in the sanctuary.
