James Calvin Snyder, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on September 6, 2025. He was born on May 31, 1942, in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania and he was the son of Arthur Snyder and Lois Cornman.
Known to many as Jim, he was a devoted husband, father, "Pap," and great-grandfather. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He often attended games or events they were involved in and was always their biggest supporter.
In his younger years, Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, and bowling. Later in life, he found happiness in simpler pleasures: playing the lottery using his daughters' birthdates, watching wrestling, trying his luck at the slot machines, enjoying time outdoors, sitting in his garage, spoiling and feeding unauthorized treats to his grand-dogs, and engaging in lively political debates with his daughters.
Jim worked as an electrician and retired from I.C.I. Americas after over 30 years of dedicated service. One of his proudest accomplishments was building the home in Prince George where he and his beloved wife, Donna, spent their life together.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Donna Lee Snyder, his daughter, Robin Lee Jackson, and his son, Jimmy Snyder, Jr.. He is survived by his five daughters: Jackie Lynn Snyder, Lori Snyder Reekes, Michelle Lee Smith (Jason), Jamie Snyder Jones (Brian), and Jerri Snyder Brown (Jonathan); two sisters: Joan Cornman and Karen Shelton; thirteen grandchildren: Ricky, Kristen, Robby, Casey, Ryan, Joshua, Jimmy, Allyson, John, Jacob, Christopher, Payton, and T.J.; and seven great-grandchildren: Alex, Troy, Mia, Cassie, Wyatt, Riley, and Aiden.
A private memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be held for his close family and his friends at his home, 7020 Mourning Dove Lane, Disputanta, Virginia, on Saturday, September 13th, at 12 p.m. The Snyder daughters, by honoring their dad's wishes, welcome church and work family and friends for a meet, greet and sweet treats anytime between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at his home. In lieu of traditional floral arrangements, the family would appreciate outdoor plants to contribute to a memorial garden being created in his honor at his home. They look forward to celebrating the wonderful memories of their dad as well as eating some of his favorite desserts with you.
